About the Course
The Youth Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course equips participants with the knowledge and skills to provide initial support to young people (aged 12–18) experiencing mental health challenges or crises. Developed by Mental Health First Aid Australia, this evidence-based, internationally recognised training builds confidence in recognising signs, offering support, and guiding young people toward appropriate help.
What You'll Learn
Over two face-to-face training days, participants will develop practical skills to assist with:
Depression and anxiety
Psychosis
Substance use problems
Suicidal thoughts and behaviours
Panic attacks
Non-suicidal self-injury
Traumatic events
Facilitator
This course will be facilitated by Hayley Harris, an experienced Mental Health First Aid Instructor and Peer Supervisor.
Accreditation
Participants who complete the course can take a short assessment to become an Accredited MHFAider, with certification valid for three years.
Who Can Attend?
This free course is open to professionals, volunteers, sporting clubs, and community members (ages 18+). Whether you work with young people or want to be better equipped to support them, this training is for you.
